The Story

The Pink Sheep Film Festival was brought to life by Channing Duke and Lynn Casper in 2011 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Submissions for the first festival opened in January 2011 and ended on April Fool’s day. Once the final films were selected, we held a preview party on May 23, 2011 at Costello’s Piano Bar where we announced the selected films by showing their trailers on a projector. On June 10th, 2011 the first Pink Sheep Film Festival was held at Jengo’s Playhouse. The event sold out with people bringing in lawn chairs and standing along the back. After the films, we moved the party to the backyard where we celebrated and projected music videos on the wall outside.

In 2012, the festival was moved to a larger venue, City Stage, to fill the anticipated turnout. Nine films were selected. We revamped the image for Pink Sheep with the image you see above.
